Just a note on the time-line of my recovery, in case it is of any interest to Mr. Lavelle. Once the bruising was gone after the first week, the soreness was dramatically reduced. During the next two weeks the occasional soreness had resolved almost entirely, and now I'm back to normal.

Once again, to be able to have this problem fixed without general surgery was a tremendous relief. The term "harpoon excision" now has a special place in my vocabulary!
